Best Books for Babies: 15 Books To Add To Your Child’s First Library

January 27, 2015momstownBaby, ParentingNo comments
Here are some of our favourite books for baby’s first library – I read some of these books so often I can still recite them, years later!

'Goodnight kittens and goodnight mittens" – this classic story has a soothing rythym that is perfect for bedtime.

This small yellow gosling who loves to wear bright red boots has lost her boots.  She finds them and a new friend in this cute story.

All of Sandra Boynton's books are adorable and funny but this one was our favourite.

'I love you to the moon and back' – a great story to read together about how much you love each other.

'One apple on Monday, two pears on Tuesday' – learn about numbers and the days of the week and what happens to a caterpillar after it eats and sleeps with this beautifully illustrated classic book.

As much as kids love the song, they love this book!

One of my favourites to read over and over again – it has a great rhythm that kids respond to.

We had to buy this book three times!  Something about lift-the-flap books keeps babies busy and happy!

Another classic book – a cute story about a bear who has lost his button but ends up finding a home.

As with Sandra Boynton, all of Dr. Seuss's books are perfect for little ones.  Lots of rhyming, fun words and great pictures.

Another book that is as popular as the song that goes with it.

Another beautifully illustrated book by Eric Carle and, the repetitive text helps kids learn to predict what's next in the story.

Karen Katz has some adorable lift-the-flap books – this one also helps kids learn body parts!

Bird wakes up too grumpy to eat, play or fly but friends he meets along the way help turn his mood around.

'Olivia is good at wearing people out.  She even wears herself out'  A great description of most kids and a cute story about a pig who knows who she is.
