5 Reasons to Love Fern Resort in the Fall

November 4, 2014momstownFamily Life, ParentingNo comments
Fern Resort in Orillia is a great place to spend some quality time with your family this fall.

We headed up to Fern Resort in Orillia for the 'Not So Spooky' Halloween weekend and had a great, fun-filled family weekend!

Here are 5 reasons we enjoyed our visit this fall:

1) Halloween fun

There were lots of family activities planned to celebrate Halloween including a costume contest, a haunted house and even a pumpkin catapult!  There was also a pumpkin decorating contest – we had lots of fun creating our masterpiece!

2) Fall colours

Fern Resort is surrounded by trees that had changed colour for the fall and the resort was beautifully decorated for the season.  Even in the cooler weather, it was nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the lakeview and the fall colours.

3) Fall comfort food

The food at Fern is always delicious and their fall menu was no exception.  The menu included lots of choice for both parents and kids, full of fall comfort food, healthy options and yummy desserts!

4) Outdoor Fall Fun

As the weather gets colder, we tend to spend more time indoors.  But at Fern Resort, there are lots of activities to do outdoors so we got lots of fresh air throughout the weekend. The kids and their cousins spent time playing ball hockey, jumping on the outdoor trampoline, playing mini golf and trying out the mini zip line.  After all that family fun outside, they kids were exhausted!

5) The Playvillage

The Playvillage is open from 9am – 4:30pm for kids ages 0 – 6.  There are lots of toys to play with and the Fern Resort staff is there to make sure the kids have a great time.  The Playvillage is also open from 6 – 8pm – once our kids had their dinner, we dropped them off for some free play while we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner without kids!  (This is a year round bonus but definitely worth mentioning!)

We really enjoyed our 'Not So Spooky' Halloween weekend.  It was nice to spend time as a family without worrying about the mess the kids were making or what to cook for dinner. After a busy start to fall, it was nice to spend some quality time together.

The winter package rates at Fern Resort are very reasonable – they have Christmas,  New Years, post New Years and winter weekend getaway packages.  Downhill skiing is even a package option too!  Click here to find out more details and to book your stay.
