momstown Vaughan is looking for someone to fill the permanent, part-time position of Digital Media Editor
Job Title: Digital Media Editor
Location: Vaughan, Toronto, Newmarket (York/GTA Region)
Type: Part-Time (25-30 hrs/week)
Reports to: Regional Director
ROLE PURPOSE
The Digital Media Editor will be the lead on the momstown media outlet digital property.
- Experienced writer and communicator
- Proven successful track record in growing online media and developing best-in-class content, ideally in the parenting/family subject areas
- Creative individual who brings exceptional new ideas to momstown with the goal to grow the blog user base including traffic, page views, impressions, and e-mail subscribers.
- Creatively revise, repurpose, and renew current momstown content as needed
- Develop annual digital content plan for local momstown chapter and align with the National Social Media Manager's social media plan.
- Work closely with the Regional Director/Account Manager on the development of integrated sponsored editorial
- Optimize content for search engines and monitors web analysts to create insights on usage, readership and shares.
- Build relationships with regional momstown media partners
- Collaborate with other regional Digital Media Editors and national content teammates (ie: National Editor).
- Manage local Social Media channels (ie: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and plan on daily usage
- Work with Regional Director to set monthly and annual targets for statistics (ie unique users, page views) for website and growth targets for social media channels
- Actively monitor stats and year-to-date achievements versus goals, continuously develop and execute plans to meet goals
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Editor and management of all contributed content to momstown outlet
- Create and maintain consistency of the momstown brand voice
- Create annual strategic content plan and deliver on it monthly/weekly/daily through momstown online properties
- Write original content a minimum of 8 times per month for momstown outlet
- Edit and post blogger submissions
- Engage current users and use momstown platforms to reach new users
- Contribute to overall business development through strategy and ideas
- Create and share Craft and Recipe blogs for outlet website
- Sound knowledge of Social Media channels and strategy
- Load digital ads to momstown properties (as needed)
- Publish all content – editorial, contests, and any website content update
- Be the local 'face' of momstown for clients, media
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent writer and communicator preferably with Journalism background, including education
- Skilled at developing content strategy that engages and builds online communities
- Superb writing, composition, proofreading and editing skills
- A writing style that complements and aligns with the momstown brand personality and values including experience in mom, family, and general parenting topics
- Technically savvy and interested in new industry developments
- Ability to network, build relationships and support the growth of the momstown business
- Ability to work with all kinds of content genres like text, pictures, graphics and videos
- Experience in using social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and Google+, and multiple Internet platforms.
- Above average knowledge on search engine optimization and digital metrics (including Google analytics and other forms of results reporting)
