Making little changes in your life can help the earth and help to reduce the effects of global warming. Go green and try to adopt these six simple behaviours into your everyday life.

  1. Be efficient – Install energy-efficient compact light bulbs and low-flowing shower heads and faucets in your home. You can also reduce your household’s energy consumption by washing laundry in cold or warm water.
  2. Chill out – Setting your thermostat two degrees lower in the winter or higher in the in summer can reduce your household’s energy consumption.
  3. Recycle – Cut down on how much trash you throw away by recycling paper, plastics, metals and e-waste, like computers, cell phones and electronics.
  4. Less means more – Choose products that are made from recycled materials, have less packaging and are better for the environment.
  5. Park it – Instead of driving to your destination, opt to walk, bike or use public transportation. Not only will this practice benefit your health, it will help reduce pollution.
  6. Plant a tree – A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
